Opened in June 2021, it is located about 50 km southeast of downtown Chengdu and was developed to complement Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, significantly expanding the region’s aviation capacity and international connectivity.

Chengdu Tianfu International Airport is a primary hub for Air China and Sichuan Airlines, and an important base for carriers such as China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines, Shenzhen Airlines, Xiamen Airlines, and Hainan Airlines. It also hosts a growing number of international airlines operating routes across Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, supporting Chengdu’s role as a major international aviation gateway.
Transportation
The airport is directly connected to the city via Chengdu Metro Line 18, providing fast rail access to central Chengdu. Intercity high-speed rail services link TFU with other cities in Sichuan Province. Airport shuttle buses, long-distance coaches, taxis, and ride-hailing services offer additional convenient transport options.
