Passengers travelling with Shanghai Airlines are permitted to carry the following:

Carry-on Baggage

Economy Class: 1 piece of carry-on baggage allowed.

Business & First Class: 2 pieces allowed (varies by route and fare).

Weight Limit: Around 7 - 10 kg (15 - 22 lb) per passenger for international flights (varies by route and fare).

Size Limit: 55 × 35 × 25 cm (standard carry-on dimensions).

Personal Item: You may also bring one small personal item (e.g., handbag, laptop bag) that fits under the seat (policy dependent on route).

Checked Baggage Allowance

Shanghai Airlines uses different systems depending on where you’re flying:

International Flights

Economy Class: 2 pieces of checked baggage, each up to 23 kg.

Business Class: 2 pieces, each up to 32 kg.

First Class: 2 - 3 pieces, each up to 32 kg.

Dimensions: Each piece should not exceed 158 cm total (sum of length + width + height).

Domestic (within China)

Checked baggage is based on weight rather than pieces: Economy is 20 kg, Business is 30 kg, and First Class is 40 kg.

Extra Baggage

If your baggage exceeds the free allowance (weight, size, or number of pieces), excess baggage fees apply.

You can pre-purchase extra allowance online at a discount compared to paying at the airport.

Fees vary widely based on route and airport and are charged per kilogram (domestic) or per piece (international).
