Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL) is the primary international gateway to the Philippines and serves the Greater Manila Area. Located in Pasay and Parañaque, approximately 7 km south of Manila city center, it is the country’s busiest airport, handling the majority of international and domestic air traffic.

The airport connects the Philippines to major destinations across Southeast Asia, East Asia, the Middle East, North America, and Oceania, and functions as the main hub for the nation’s flag carrier and leading low-cost airlines.

Facilities

The airport operates four passenger terminals serving different airlines and routes. Terminal 1 mainly handles international flights, Terminal 2 is used primarily by Philippine Airlines and PAL Express, Terminal 3 accommodates both international and domestic services from multiple carriers, and Terminal 4 serves domestic flights.

Across the terminals, facilities include check-in counters, self-service kiosks, immigration and customs services, baggage claim areas, airport lounges, retail shops, and duty-free outlets. Dining options range from cafés and fast-food outlets to full-service restaurants offering Filipino and international cuisine. Free Wi-Fi is available, along with ATMs, currency exchange services, and passenger assistance desks.

Airlines

Ninoy Aquino International Airport is served by a mix of full-service and low-cost carriers, including Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, and Emirates. Destinations include regional hubs such as Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Tokyo, and Seoul, as well as long-haul routes to the Middle East and Oceania.

Transportation

Travelers can reach Manila and surrounding cities via metered and coupon taxis, ride-hailing services such as Grab, and hotel or private transfers. Public transportation options include city buses, point-to-point (P2P) bus services, and jeepneys serving nearby areas, although travel times can vary significantly due to traffic conditions. Inter-terminal shuttle services operate within the airport complex.

Ninoy Aquino International Airport is undergoing ongoing rehabilitation and modernization under a new private operator, aimed at improving terminal facilities, passenger flow, and overall service quality. It remains the Philippines’ most important aviation hub for both international and domestic connectivity.
