Cancellation and Refund Policy

United Airlines provides flexible cancellation and refund options, ensuring convenience for its passengers. Below are the key points of their policy:

Cancellation Policy

By default, United Airlines tickets may be cancelled in accordance with the fare rules of the ticket purchased.

• Most fare types allow cancellation, but cancellation fees may apply depending on the fare class (e.g., Basic Economy, Standard Economy, Premium).

• Basic Economy tickets are generally non-refundable and non-changeable once purchased.

• Standard Economy, Premium Economy, Business, and First tickets typically allow cancellation, but fees and penalties vary by fare.

• United’s 24-hour flexible cancellation policy allows passengers to cancel for a full refund within 24 hours of original purchase for tickets bought at least 7 days before departure.

• Cancellation must be processed before departure to avoid additional charges or total forfeiture of fare (especially for non-refundable tickets).

Refund Policy

For tickets that are refundable or partially refundable, refunds are processed according to the fare rules.

• Refunds are normally returned to the original form of payment.

• For non-refundable tickets, United issues a travel credit or e-credit (good for future travel), minus any applicable cancellation fees.

• Taxes and fees may be refundable even on non-refundable tickets, subject to local regulations and fare conditions.

• Refund requests can be made via:

- United’s website Manage Reservations
- United Customer Service
- The original travel agent or booking platform

• Refund processing times vary by payment method, issuing bank, and refund channel.

Important Notes

• Tickets purchased through travel agencies or third-party websites must generally be refunded through the original booking channel.

• Fare rules (including cancellation fees and refund eligibility) are shown at the time of purchase and in the ticket receipt/itinerary.

• Special situations - such as flight cancellations or significant schedule changes by United - may entitle passengers to a refund or rebooking without penalty.
