Passengers travelling with Qantas Airways are permitted to carry the following:

Baggage Allowance

Carry-on Baggage

Domestic Flights (within Australia):

• Economy Class: One standard piece up to 10kg (56cm x 36cm x 23cm) or two smaller pieces totaling 14kg (each not exceeding 10kg, 48cm x 34cm x 23cm).

• Business Class: Similar allowances as Economy.

• Dash 8 Services: One small piece up to 7kg (48cm x 34cm x 23cm).

International Flights:

• Economy Class: One piece up to 7kg (56cm x 36cm x 23cm) or one non-rigid garment bag (114cm x 60cm x 11cm).

• Premium Economy, Business, and First Class: Up to two pieces totaling 14kg (one piece not exceeding 10kg).

In addition, passengers may bring one small personal item, such as a handbag or laptop in a slim case.

Checked Baggage Allowance

Domestic Flights (within Australia):

• Economy Class: One piece up to 23kg.

• Business Class: Two pieces up to 32kg each.

International Flights (excluding North and South America):

• Economy Class: Up to 30kg total.

• Premium Economy and Business Class: Up to 40kg total.

• First Class: Up to 50kg total.

International Flights (to/from North and South America):

• Economy and Premium Economy: Two pieces up to 23kg each.

• Business and First Class: Three pieces up to 32kg each.

Frequent Flyer status and Qantas Club membership can provide additional allowances. No single piece of checked baggage can exceed 32kg.

Please note that these allowances and charges are subject to change and may vary based on specific fare types or promotional offers.

To avoid extra charges for excess baggage, please make sure to fit your allowed weight into your allowed number of pieces. Any extra weight or number of pieces will be subject to additional fees, provided there is space in the hold for your excess baggage.

Extra Baggage

Excess baggage fees apply if you go over your purchased allowance. Pre-purchasing extra allowance online is usually cheaper than paying at the airport.
