IndiGo provides flexible cancellation and refund options, ensuring convenience
for its passengers. Below are the key points of their policy:
General Refund Rule
Most IndiGo (6E) tickets are non-refundable for voluntary cancellations,
especially for Saver and promotional fares. In such cases, the base fare is
usually forfeited, while airport taxes and certain fees may be refunded, subject
to cancellation charges.
In many situations, instead of a cash refund, the remaining value (after
applicable fees) may be retained as a credit or used for rebooking, depending on
fare type and booking conditions.
Voluntary Cancellation
With Flexibility Add-Ons
If you purchased Flexi Plus / Flexi fare options, you may cancel or change your
booking with reduced or zero change fees, subject to fare rules. Any refundable
amount (after exclusions such as add-on fees) is typically credited back to the
original form of payment.
Without Flexibility Add-Ons
Without flexibility add-ons, voluntary cancellations generally result in
cancellation charges, and only the balance (if any) after deductions is
refundable. In many low-fare cases, no refund of the base fare is provided.
24-Hour Cancellation Rule
If you cancel within 24 hours of booking, and the flight is scheduled to depart
at least 7 days later, you may be eligible for a full refund without
cancellation charges, provided the booking was made directly through IndiGo’s
official channels. This aligns with standard consumer protection practices.
Airline-Initiated Disruptions (Involuntary Cancellations)
If IndiGo cancels or significantly changes your flight due to operational
reasons (such as schedule changes, aircraft issues, or weather), you are
generally entitled to one of the following options:
• Full refund to the original method of payment
• Free rebooking on an alternative IndiGo flight
• Credit or rescheduling without additional charges
Refund Processing
Eligible refunds are usually processed within 7 - 14 working days after the
request is approved. The time taken for the amount to appear in your account
depends on your bank or card issuer.
Refunds for ancillary services (such as seat selection, meals, or baggage) may
be processed separately and are subject to specific conditions.
How to Cancel or Request a Refund
• Visit the IndiGo “Manage Booking” section on the official website or mobile
app
• Enter your PNR/booking reference and last name
• Select the flight to cancel or modify
• Review applicable charges and submit the refund or change request
